 A teen film is a movie, which consists of many aspects that would appeal to the target audience; teenagers. Although, teen films may be watched by other audiences such as adults, they are however commonly viewed by teenagers, as they are able to identify with the characters and lifestyle of the characters, aspire to be like one of the characters or may feel gratified by watching teenage films.

There are many sub genres that are common within teenage films. This includes romance between teenagers, violence and rivalry is also a very common sub genre as well as drama in friendships, relationships and family. These sub genres are what appeal to the target audience, as they may be able to identify with one of the many sub genres.
