Process of Editing 1

Our first editing session was fairly simple. We imported all the shots we had filmed onto FinalCutPro this step was very simple and easy to do. We then as a group watched each clip to make sure that we were able to rename them correctly which would also later on help us when we were searching for particular clips.
After doing this we began editing, our first few shots which we thought we needed to film again turned out to be very good for match cutting and they had little
to no head space so we decided that we would use them instead of filming again at Mile end skate-park.
There were however some parts which we did need to speed up a little to make it look as if our skater was constantly skating at the same pace.
In this session we managed to get a lot done however there were still some missing shots that we did need to film in order to be able to complete our editing and our rough copy.

process of editing

firstly all the filming was imported onto final cut pro after the footage was downloaded from the memory cards.
then we selected and opened it as a document on final cut pro
we then opened all the clips and renamed them so we could be be them in order on our sequence

First filming session overview.

Although we had originally planned to film at Mile End skatepark, we were unable to do so as the skatepark was already booked for filming by other students. Our alternative was to go to the park not far from the skatepark and get some filming done instead of delaying it. As a consequence we didn't get to film the skatepark location that had graffiti art which would have contributed well to our opening, as it would have created the right atmosphere for our character.

However, we did not  let our session of filming go to waste and therefore filmed around the park instead. During this period of time, we didn't get some good shots; the park was empty and contained an open space with smooth grounds which dismissed any safety issues to do with riding the skateboard.

filming evaluation

I think our first filming session went alright although we didnt get to film in the skate park as planned,we decided to film in the park nearby as it suited the fact that the character is an outcast so filming in a kids park was perfect.
The park was perfect for filming as they were many obstacles that we could film the main charcter 'josh' skating on. whilst filming we took alot of good shots with very little head space which made editing them much easier.
after editing our shots we may decide to go milend skatepark and get a couple more shots to add to our sequence.

reflection of first filming session

these are images of us whilst filming on our first session,
in the following images you could see Daniel acting in a scene and Essa filming him at the time of the scene. the following images are me and Yasmine setting up the the 'tripod'. we were taking the footage near Mile End skate park were 'Josh' (Daniel) is learning to skate.

Reflection of first filming session with Photo evidence

Our first filming session did not go as expected. We were originally suppose to film in mile end skate park, however there was already some people there filming who had already booked the skatepark for filimg so we felt it would not be smart if we tried to film in the skatepark as we would disturb their film and their props/cameras/equiptment would be in our way.
We however did not want to waste our filming session and come back with no clips, so instead we decided that the park accross the road would be appropriate to film in, as there was enough space in the park and skateboarding was allowed. The pavements were also approprite for skating in. Eventhough we were not able to use our chosen locations we did manage to get a lot of good shots which followed the rules of filming and after watching them back would be perfect for editing, however we as a group did decided that if we get enough time we would try and film in mile end skatepark again as this was our original filming location and we would like to use it.

This soundtrack may be used during the beginning of our opening sequence as it creates an ambient as well as an atmospheric tone. It also creates sympathy towards the 'nerd' wom is having difficulties riding his skateboard to college. This will result in the audience feeling a sense of empathy towards this character which continues to build up as we progress into the sequence.

Process of editing

Firstly all footage filmed was imported to Final Cut Pro after downloading the footage from memory cards A and B onto the computer.
Then, all the footage selected was opened on to a document on Final cut Pro.
We then watched over all the videos and renamed the ones which will be useful whilst editing and the ones which we will not be using.

editing process starting by downloading the footage

firstly we downloaded all of the footage from the memory card to the hard drive from both of the memory cards A and B.

then we had to import the footage to 'final cut pro'

after importing the files we had to open them up on 'final cut pro'

then we had to rename all of our footage so it would be easier for us to find them when editing.

Types of media used on our blog

In our blog I have used Prezi for many posts, whether it was presentations for opening sequences, character costumes or to show our groups planning. I think Prezi is one of my favorite type of media to use for our blog as there is a wide range of things you can produce with it and it also looks very professional. I also really like it as each Prezi can look different from the last, it is also interactive once you put it on the blog anybody who views your blog is able to look through any presentation slide they wish.
I have only used Wordle on my groups once, however I do see myself using it many more times as i think it is a better way of listing things as it is much more visually appealing than just using a normal blog post. Its very simple to use as you just type a bunch or words (preferably the words you are planning to use) and then it generates them for you in a nice picture which looks really good in your blog.

I have also used many GIFs in our blog posts as I feel just like the wordle picture, gifs too are a better visual representation of what we are trying to show. I think gifs are much more interesting than just using basic jpegs hey move :) which is always fun to watch. I plan to continue using gifs however will not try go overboard in the use of them as it can begin to look tacky if everything on your blog is a gif.

Time toast in another type of media that I have used when posting. I feel that time toast is best used for when you need to illustrate a timeline as it shows your timeline in a very visually pleased and very organised way where you can easily scroll through and see what your timeline has. As a group we used this to show our production schedule. I think it is a very good use of media however it is limited in what you can use it for as it is only for timelines.

Reflection on Pitch/Feedback

As a group we presented our pitch on our ideas for our teen film opening to the class. We used Prezi in order to make a presentation to present to the class as we felt this was the best software to use to showcase our IT skills.
In my group I presented the production schedule, storyboard, institutional detail, part of the actors/costumes and also the music we may be using. I feel that our pitch went very well as we included everything that we were assigned to add to our presentation. We managed to give our class a clear overview of what 'Trip' would be about and they all loved it.
When getting feedback there wasn't many things that we needed to change as we had already accurately thought out what we should and shouldn't do for our opening, we did however get one piece of advice, because we are planning to use a skateboard for most part of our filming this means that we will have to film many parts more than one time maybe even six or seven times just to make sure they are perfect which can be very time consuming, but we must keep this in mind when going out to film.

what we did in todays lesson

today we presented our group presentation 'pitch' to the group. we discussed all the aspects in the filming progress including costumes, locations, our distribution company etc. we got feed back from our teacher "to take several shots of the skateboard scenes". we took this advice and are going to do our best and try get the most accurate shots whilst filming our film intro. we were asked questions and had to answer them in fall detail for a better understanding by the class.

presentation for film-overview

overview of presentation

Today in class each group presented their film opening plan to the rest of the class.each group had a great reception and postive feeback from rebecca. In the pitch i presented what clothes my character 'josh would wear. Also I showed the filming locations as i spotted them and they were close by.

Yasmine- I presented part of the storyboard which included the shot types and actions. Furthermore, i presented the risk assessment and the props i shall be wearing whilst playing my role in the opening as the 'Perfect Girl'.

The Pitch

Planning Final Projects - Music

1) This is the first track our group has decided to use. We haven gone for an indie/rock track to present our nerd character as someone who's into different types of music and not your typical genre of music that teens may listen too. By using this track to open up our opening we feel that it will set a easy laid back atmosphere for our opening to show that it wont be a serious drama film but more so a comedy film. 2) In order to show that our character is rushing for college in one part of our opening we decided we would stick to indie and rock music but speed up the tempo abit in order to show that our character is in a hurry. So we chose this track. 3)Part of our opening involves our character having a run in with the 'cool tough guys' who are very intimidating, this is because he gets distracted by the girl who is with them and ends up losing control of his skateboard which ends up hitting one of these guys. In order to show that they are tough and mean we decided to use a very 'gangster' type of music to do so and we thought this would be appropriate. 4) We also decided to keep the gangster themed music for the chase scene but the first track was not a fast enough tempo so we decided to use another track while our main nerd character is being chased by the two guys.
