47 ronin

This is a film based on the Japanese culture of their past. He film is targeted at teen and elder but isn't really a teen film. It contains mythical content and science fiction based content which could draw the attention of teenagers especially as we know them as 'geeks' or maybe other teenagers that like mythical stories and history like action games.
One really good thing about this film is that it has an variety of themes and one of the main one is romance. With romance being in this film is an advantage for the makers because it would not only draw the attention of males but also teen girls. It contains the following themes ; action, Sci Fi, science fiction, thriller, romance and more etc. The characters non the film is very similar to teen films because it has the jock, mean girl, outsider, the girl everybody wants, the mean boy, the leader and more etc.

The main story line for this film is based on a romantic relationship between an princess and a outsider but it can never be. The film is believed to be based on a true story of the Japanese culture and where most things began in their history and past.  How i can relate this film to be an teen film is that it contains a lot of  teen favourites like action and fighting and some fans may like mythical creatures like dragons and witches. And obviously there being samurai and monks fighting. These are main things male teens usually like. On the other hand there being a princess as a main character and romance included would make teen girls enjoy it as well as boys.

Another way I could relate this particular film to teens is that 'kay' (main character) is brought in to the film as an outsider that everybody dislikes but further on in the film he is brought in to the crowd wheren most people dont like him but because they need his help, he becomes one of the most respected by the ones who bullied him and hated on him. this I could relate to the modern life styles of teenagers and is a similar theme in a majority of other teen films eve if it isn't based on a similar storyline. Where an outsider is lonely and then brought in to a particular crowd that is the most popular or best at everything and then becomes a leader or most respected.

The main character kay is really different than everybody else and this is indicated by the use of mine en scene from the way he is dressed and big scars on his head. We could automatically indicate his difference from the people because he looks very English and everybody else looks Japanese. The producers and editors differ him from the others by present in him in a dark and messy house in the woods unlike the Japanese where thy lie in big clean temples with servants and more. He is also introduce wearing scruffy baggy clothes and the Japanese are presented with clean fresh bright colored dresses and suits.

Camera work  in the film is another key factor that shows the difference in the characters and how they are similar to other teen films and he representation of characters with the use of camera work. The use of low shots on the king and Lords are used to show their rank and place in the film and use of high shots used when the camera is on kay is used to shown how he is unwanted , an outsider and low in there community. The close ups on the Lords faces and the kings are used to show the identification in their faces and the power and will thy have other their empire and people. The use of close up hots when present in the evel in the film is a good way to indicate the badness of that character and what their intentions are in the quality of the detail their face.

The mythical part of the film  is the best part because it is the section that draws the attention of teens and there attraction towards monsters and creatures. This is a small part that every teen boy or girl has an interest in. Sci Fi is also a part of teen interests that the have due to the action based thriller films that come in this format. The film is also available in 3D, IMAX and 2D. These are formats that teens like to watch films in.
