Firstly we are shown a group of geeks walking down a high school corridor with a bully walking in the opposite direction. He is shown barging through the group geeks and making faces; he is shortly followed by a strict, stern looking teacher for his actions. We are also briefly introduced to the popular pretty girl who is seen looking at her reflection in the mirror she has installed in her locker which emphasises her role of being the popular girl within the teen movie. Moreover, a male teacher taps a students shoulder and the screen fades white which may suggest that the student has a bright future ahead of him and takes on the ambitious role in throughout the film
We are then taken around the school grounds where we are briefly introduced to more characters such as the outsider who sits alone reading a book, opposing to the high school blonde cheerleaders who are promptly shown after, typically using their lunch breaks to dance in their short skirts.
