It consists of a teenage street gang who have to defend themselves from a predatory alien invasion. The target audience for this movie is teenage males as they may be able to identify with the life of the street gang or location. Moreover, they may feel gratified by watching this movie as they enjoy watching action and sci-fi. It may also appeal to girls due to the few female roles within the film, or because they may find a character attractive. Both male and female may watch it because they aspire to be like one of the actors or are fans of a certain actor.

The movie focuses on group of young looking undercover police officers whom are investigating crimes in high schools and colleges as well as other teenage venues. This movie in particular may appeal to females as they characters from the opposite sex attractive; in this case it would be the actor Channing Tatum as he's often audiences' eye candy. Having well known actors attract a wider audience as people will want to watch the films that actor stars in. It also attracts the teenage male audience due to the action and crime fiction within the film. To conclude, 21 Jump Street is targeted at both male and female teenagers as well as young adults.
