The first teen film opening that I looked at was JUNO:
The song used in the film opening is 'All I want is you by Barry Louis Polisar'
This song gives you a slight feel of what the film will be about, the music clearly gives you a refrecltion of Junos character despite her being faced with an unplanned pregnancy she is a very quirky girl with a happy personality. The music also gives you an idea of the type of location the film will be set in, its obviously not going to be in the city in london but probably in a rural area in america. So you could say that the opening music has to be a reflection of what your film is going to be about.
The next teen film opening that I looked at was KIDULTHOOD:
The film opening of kidulthood doesnt use any particular songs, however it uses a very uneasy type of music which changes the atmosphere of what we can actually see happening, instead of happy music while the characters talk about partying there is mysterious music. This could clearly foreshadow what is to come in this film and that all does not end well. The music also represents the genre of the film which is drama.
The last teen film opening that I looked at was DAIRY OF A WIMPY KID:
The use of music and sound in this opening was very different from the other two which I have looked at as it does not use much music/sound there is more dialolgue but when the music does actually kick in it does exactly what the others do, it reflects the film. The diary of a wimpy kid is a comedy teen film and this is clearly shown with upbeat music which is representing the countdown while he is rushing to get to school.
From this research into different film openings I can clearly see that the type of music me and my group decided to use for our opening needs to reflect the type of film we are planning so because ours will be comdey romance our music cant be too serious. Our music not only needs to relect the type of film we are making but also the location and our main character.
